ADVOCACY HAS ONE DIRECTION… FORWARD.

Since its inception, a basic tenet of ArtsKC’s mission is to serve as the voice of the creative industries of the Kansas City region.

Our advocacy work includes lobbying, education, writing policy, data collection, community engagement, and resource development. It is our hope that through effective dialogue and engagement with elected officials, the KC region can serve as an example to the country and the world of what it means to invest in the arts sector not only for its cultural enrichment, but also its economic dynamism and community enhancement.

Please use the resources on this page to aid your advocacy efforts or your own education. If you have any questions, please email Branden Haralson at BHaralson@ArtsKC.org.

ADVOCACY AGENDA

Our advocacy agenda lays out the policy priorities for ArtsKC at the local, state, and federal level. Drafted with the help of the policy experts who serve on our Advocacy Committee, the agenda is ultimately voted on and approved by our full board of directors.

Our agenda not only addresses arts-related policy, but also tax, workforce, and human rights policy.

ADVOCACY COMMITTEE

ArtsKC and the Advocacy Committee are the voice for our arts community as we advocate for policies that strengthen and gain public and private support for the arts across the greater KC region.

LOBBYING OPPORTUNITIES

The goal of any advocacy program should be to empower its advocates with the information and confidence to have discussions with elected officials at every level of government. Visit our page to educate yourself and explore opportunities to voice your support for pending arts legislation.

CONTACT GOVERNMENT LEADERS

ArtsKC is constantly monitoring legislation at the local, state, and federal levels. We hope to make it as easy as possible for our constituents and greater arts community to engage with their elected officials. Here you will find contact information to help facilitate this ongoing relationship.
