Fractured Atlas, Inc.
Mission: Fractured Atlas empowers artists, arts organizations, and other cultural sector stakeholders by eliminating practical barriers to artistic expression, so as to foster a more agile and resilient cultural ecosystem. Offers fiscal sponsorships.
Francis Family Foundation- Small Arts Grant Fund
Recognizing the arts are more accessible when located within venues where people live and work, the Francis Family Foundation created the Small Arts Grant Fund. A wide range of grassroots programs are supported throughout the region. Eligibility: Organizations located within the greater Kansas City area that are tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) public charity with a federal Employer Identification Number, or partner with another organization that can serve as a fiscal sponsor, and an arts organization with annual revenues of less than $300,000 last fiscal year. OR a non-arts organization with a community-based arts program that provides access to arts and culture opportunities in traditional and nontraditional sites throughout the greater Kansas City area. Small Arts Grant Fund requests cannot exceed $10,000.
The Hall Family Foundation
Grants in The Arts encourage excellence in the community’s performing and visual arts organizations. Top priority is given to programs that enhance quality, strengthen management and increase audience development. While larger, established arts groups take priority, we also invest in smaller groups that fill a specific arts niche. Preference is given to programs that: create long term solutions, respond to and positively impact the community, promote excellence, have the capacity to achieve the desired results through leadership, management and financial resources, are innovative and catalytic, have the likelihood of future support for ongoing operating costs, do not compete with government programs, and cooperate with other community resources and agencies. Award Amounts vary. Requests can be submitted at any time & are accepted and reviewed on a year-round basis.
Harpo Foundation – New Work Project Grants
New Work Project Grants are made to non-profit organizations in support of new work by under recognized artists 21 years or older. Eligibility: Tax exempt 501 (c) (3) organizations, presenting venues and hosting organizations may only submit one application a year, etc. Awards are made of up to $10,000.
KCK Small Business Grant A new KCK Small Business Resiliency Grant Program has been announced. Grant applicants are eligible to apply for up to $10,000 in funding. Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission (CAIC)
The Commission is dedicated to measuring, promoting, supporting and expanding the creative industries to grow the state’s economy and create creative industry-related jobs. Offers grants for Strategic Investment: Organizational Development, New and Expanded Works, and Equipment and Technology. Their grants for Arts Integration include: Visiting Artists, Integrated Arts Education, and Innovative Partnerships.
The Kresge Foundation – Arts & Culture
The Arts & Culture Program supports equitable Creative Placemaking activities. The Kresge Foundation awards grants in the following areas: American Cities, Arts & Culture, Detroit, Education, Environment, Health, Human Services and Social Investment Practice. Most often, we proactively invite or solicit applications from individual organizations. Occasionally, program teams will do an open call for proposals within a focus area. For initiatives, we often use a request for proposals process to fund specific efforts in a cohort model. Whenever available, we share grant opportunities on the Current Funding Opportunities page.
Lee’s Summit Arts Council (LSAC) Annual Grant Opportunity and Mini-Grants
To support the cultural arts in our community the LSAC will accept requests for financial support of up to $1,000, which are reviewed annually; and for Mini-Grants of up to $500, which are reviewed monthly. Support funds must be used for cultural art events/programs that take place in Lee’s Summit. Individuals and organizations can apply. The following criteria will be considered: community impact, demonstrated need for support, creative use of funds, artistic quality, ability to administer and implement project, and the diversity of population served.
Missouri Arts Council
The Missouri Arts Council, a state agency and division of the Department of Economic Development, provides grants to nonprofit organizations that meet our strategic goals to: Increase participation in the arts in Missouri, grow Missouri’s economy using the arts, and strengthen Missouri education through the arts. The Missouri Arts Council awards grants to organizations to stimulate the growth, development, and appreciation of the arts in Missouri. This funding makes possible quality arts programming to communities throughout Missouri. In addition to financial assistance, we provide expertise in community development, fundraising, marketing, grantwriting, arts education, artistic disciplines (visual arts, music, literature, theater, dance, festivals, and film/media) and more. Award Amounts: Monthly grants- $300-$3,000, Annual grants- $1,500-$300,000. Monthly grants- Due the first Monday of the month, Annual grants- Due the last Monday in February.
Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation
Funding is provided for general operations, program support, specific productions, fundraising events and capital campaigns. Supports tax-exempt organizations that are classified under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code that enhance the quality and accessibility of the arts in the greater Kansas City community. Award Amounts: Amounts vary. Proposals are accepted on an ongoing basis.
National Endowment for the Arts- Research: Art Works
The Research: Art Works category supports research projects to analyze the value and impact of the arts in the United States. Award Amounts: Generally range from $10,000-$30,000.
National Endowment for the Arts: Challenge America
Supports projects that extend the reach of the arts to undeserved populations. Matching grants generally range from $10,000.
National Endowment for the Arts- Our Town
Organizations may apply for creative placemaking projects that contribute to the livability of communities and place the arts at their core. Our Town offers support for projects in two areas. Arts Engagement, Cultural Planning, and Design Projects that represent the distinct character and quality of their communities. Projects that build knowledge about creative placemaking. Arts Engagement, Cultural Planning, and Design projects- Matching grants range from $25,000-$200,000. Projects that Build Knowledge About Creative Placemaking- Matching grants range from $25,000-$100,000.

Theatre Communications Group
Theatre Communications Group (TCG) provides information for funding for organizations in three areas: Audience R(E)volution – a four-stage program that offers TCG Member Theatres the opportunity to study, promote and support successful audience engagement and community development models. Leadership U[niversity]: Continuing Ed – this initiative prepares recipients from all areas of the theatre for greater leadership responsibilities and long-term careers in the theatre, in two areas: one-on-one for career leaders and Continuing Ed for mid-career or veteran professionals. MetLife/TCG A-ha! Program: Think It, Do It – Think It grants ($25,000) for research and development. Do It grants ($50,000) support the implementation and testing.

National Coalition Against Censorship
NCAC’s mission is to promote freedom of thought, inquiry and expression and oppose censorship in all its forms. Over 40 years, as an alliance of more than 50 national non-profits, including literary, artistic, religious, educational, professional, labor, and civil liberties groups, we have engaged in direct advocacy and education to support First Amendment principles. NCAC is unique in that we are national in scope, but often local in our approach. We work with community members to resolve censorship controversies without the need for litigation.

Community Wellness & Resilience Series – Arts Leadership
The Covid-19 pandemic has led to a whirlwind of changes in the arts industry. Many of our organizations, and the people within those organizations, are struggling right now. How do we cope with the pandemic as individuals? What can we do to help our organizations be resilient in the face of the pandemic? Come to this bi-state wide webinar series to learn more, from mental health experts and fellow arts leaders. We will also have break-out sessions within the meeting to further explore what was presented and find unique ways of implementation. ArtsKC is partnering with Show Me Hope, UnitedHealth Behavioral Health to bring you this really important conversation. Our end goal is to provide resources in Recovery as we “Build New Together”.

American Theatre Critics Association – The American Theatre Critics Association, Inc. is the only national association of professional theatre critics. Our members work for newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and on-line services across the United States. Membership is open to all any writer who regularly publishes substantive pieces reviewing or otherwise critically covering theater.
ArtTable – ArtTable was founded in 1980 by a group of professional women in the visual arts to foster greater support, recognition, and opportunities among their peers. Today we are a national non-profit organization with a mutual support network of over 1,200 women who are leaders in the visual arts. Members expand their circle of colleagues, gain special access to art world events, and grow through professional development and mentorship opportunities. ArtTable’s annual award for Distinguished Service to the Visual Arts recognizes innovative women leaders across the country. We also actively identify and encourage emerging leaders in the field and recognize their accomplishments with an annual New Leadership Award.
College Art Association -is the world’s largest professional association for artists, art historians, designers, arts professionals.
League of American Orchestras – The League of American Orchestras leads, supports, and champions America’s orchestras and the vitality of the music they perform. Its diverse membership of more than 2,000 organizations and individuals across North America runs the gamut from world-renowned orchestras to community groups, from summer festivals to student and youth ensembles, from conservatories to libraries, from businesses serving orchestras to individuals who love symphonic music. The only national organization dedicated solely to the orchestral experience, the League is a nexus of knowledge and innovation, advocacy, and leadership advancement.
Lesbian and Gay Band Association – Lesbian and Gay Band Association (LGBA) is a musical organization comprised of concert and marching bands from cities across the United States and the world. Formed in 1982 as Lesbian and Gay Bands of America when seven independent bands met formally in Chicago, the Association has grown to 38 member organizations including international bands.
National Art Education Association – Founded in 1947, the National Art Education Association is the leading professional membership organization exclusively for visual arts educators.
National Dance Society – The National Dance Society was formed to provide leadership in the delivery of dance and dance education, and to further dance as an art form, as a support for academic success, and as a process for improving individuals’ health and wellness.
